We’ve surpassed halfway and the end is finally in sight, this has definitely been tough and challenging at the best of times, but I’ve learnt a lot through consistency and discipline. And, speaking of discipline, I’ve been trying my best to keep up with books and reading, so far I’ve done well with fiction and not so well with non-fiction.
When it comes to books on self-development I struggle with knowing what sort of advice to follow, since contradictions do exist and so trying to apply advice becomes difficult too. Except one book which delved into a topic I had never really considered…
Day 16: A book you’ve read that’s changed your views.
I wouldn’t necessarily say the book changed my views entirely or was transformative but it did genuinely make me think about relationships, about having courage and being vulnerable.
Especially vulnerability, since it’s such a huge thing that many of struggle with, myself included, the idea of finding strength in being vulnerable instead of building thicker skin and shielding ourselves away from the uncomfortable and unknown, can be bizarre. And it was until I realised how powerful vulnerability is.
Moving away from the conditioned societal belief that being vulnerable equals being weak, small and ultimately not fit for society to understanding that it is, in fact, the beginning of courage and new experiences, is a hard but important pill to swallow. Pondering on it makes you realise how much we blindly believe.
