Almost one whole week out of four in this entire challenge, a quarter of the way through and honestly that’s a huge achievement for me. Today’s prompt on describing something that excites me and fills me with joy reminds me of an older post I wrote explaining the difference between happiness and joy, for most of my life I assumed they could be used interchangeably. If you got bored of using happy you could just use joy instead.
But oh boy, was I wrong. Since then, I’ve focused more of my attention mostly towards things that bring me joy, since joy refers to happiness without the influence of external forces/circumstances. Everyone feels happy when they’re hanging out with friends, eating their favourite foods, travelling to new places etc, being feeling joyful is a whole other level of internal contentment and positivity. And we should definitely nurture it more.
Day 6: Something that excites you and fills you with joy
As much as I want to write about new things and bring new content to my blog, there are times when I just can’t help being cheesy and sound a tad bit cliche, this is definitely going to be one of those moments.
I think the biggest thing that excites me and brings me joy is when I’m accepting of who I am as a person and am actively taking steps towards caring for myself more. As a person who’s had a really rocky relationship with food, exercise, emotional and mental health and had harmed herself in the past, it’s even more important for me to love myself for me. And in those fleeting moments of self-awareness I realise how far I’ve actually come, I actually made it through.
