It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and no I’m talking about holiday’s or festivities or even anything remotely relaxing, unless you can count journaling as a therapeutic activity, which I certainly do. I recently posted about all my past journals, how I decided to record my life in various formats and whether or not I benefited from it.

The reason as to why it’s wonderful is because I’ve started a brand new journal, I decided to stick with the Muji A5 Lined Notebook in Grey since it’s super easy and comfortable to use. Looking at my current journal and this one I noticed how worn the pages became, how many stories they held and all the adventures that have seeped through the pages becoming memories. A wave of nostalgia hits me every time I flip through old pages, at times it’s bittersweet and others I’m glad I got through what I considered to be the hardest times of my life.

The one aspect of my journal that’s constantly changing is the outside cover, I went for a nature/summer floral theme using colour-coordinated washi tape where I thought it would look good (I tend to get glue everywhere and make a mess so tape is the perfect option for me). Since I took this picture, I’m considering adding some pins so I can never keep up with the ever-changing designs that come to mind.

Though I’m not the biggest fan of the first page, I tend to stick to line drawings and a minimalist aesthetic, I stuck to the green theme including the great outdoors. I randomly transferred the muji sticker that’s always on the outside cover to a page on the inside, the brown aesthetic is definitely a favourite for me!

And now come the most important parts, the sectioned pages. Thought the order changes from time to time, I find myself using similar ones again and again, the 2019 goals was something I simply transferred from my previous journal. It serves as a good reminder of what I want to achieve over the next 6 months across different parts of my life. I also keep track of my blog stats to see what I’ve achieved since the very beginning, it’s also a good motivator.

Next we come to books that I’ve read this page stays empty until I actually start reading books, though I’ve started two already I haven’t as of yet finished them. And then I noted down all the self-care habits that I should practice regularly, this idea works better in theory than in practice but I’m trying to get better at taking care of myself in a consistent way.

This is where the fun starts, I keep a record of my monthly memories which is something I’ve done since 2016 and I’m glad I started since it helps me remember what happened and what I went through, both good and bad to reflect on later on. The next page was a spontaneous drawing/quotes page, I’ve been into the moon with all it’s phases and beauty, it’s something I’ve been drawn to and so reflected my interest onto the page.

The back inside cover and something I made from the bag all my items came in is a little pocket, this is for any cinema tickets, memoirs anything I feel is important. By the end of the journals I take it all out and look through it all. And that’s a quick run through of all the important pages in my journal and what all the pages tend to look like in terms of both set up and use.
