It’s been a while, a pretty long while since I’ve been in the whole blogging game with regular uploads. It’s almost as if it’s a struggle, trying to find that work/life balance, and knowing that there will be ups and downs when it comes to writing, I’ve mentioned it before, but it still rings true, and that is when I’ve gotten myself into a rut with my blog and have stopped regularly creating I fall into a slump and continue not writing until I gain some discipline. It truly is a hard lesson to learn.
Yet this time around it was a combination of getting ill and then also prioritising some of the habits that I realised I hadn’t been performing at all, this was mainly doing yoga and then doing physical exercise most evenings for up to an hour. For the most part, I was happy with this change in routine, I felt healthier and brighter within myself, but I didn’t have time for this, for my blog or to truly engage with my readers or even to create, by the end of it I felt sort of bleurgh, it’s not a nice feeling I can assure you.
But today, I spontaneously decided to just write, to let whatever words and phrases popped into my head make themselves heard and just keep typing away. So far, it’s working, I always tend to forget that before you try things are always harder than they seem. And I guess that’s where perspective comes in, thoughts and beliefs truly are powerful.
Favourite Podcasts (to date!!)
One of the habits that I wanted to get back into were to listen to podcasts, not really for any particular purpose or to learn anything specific, but just to fill in the time that I had during my morning commute to work. When I had originally made this post last year, I wanted to gain knowledge and be able to talk about a variety of topics (mainly philosophy and mythology), even though they weren’t really topics I truly enjoyed.
So, I decided to change my views on podcasts and instead started to listen to them to gain new perspectives, to understand and view the world through the eyes of leaders, of authors, of people battling mental or physical illnesses, of people who experienced trauma or abuse and even just the average person. There’s something fascinating about humans, the way we think, the way we reason, the way we believe, and the level of complexity behind our thinking processes are incredible.
Oprah’s SuperSoul Conversations
This is a podcast classic, even if don’t listen to this particular podcast, there’s no escaping hearing about it from others. The way it’s curated to talk about difficult conversation, from trauma to abuse, to religion and spirituality, is just beautiful. I cannot express my love towards this podcast because it’s honestly immense.
Kayln’s Coffee Talk
I’m an avid follower of Kayln’s YouTube channel and have been a fan way before she released her podcast. Similarly to Oprah, she’s open to talking about the difficult emotional stuff that’s still hugely taboo in society. Her infectious personality and wisdom is calming, yet inspirational all at the same time.
The goop Podcast
This was one that I wasn’t sure I would really like at the beginning, the description that came with it on Spotify really pulled me in, the idea to getting to listen to all types of people, from all walks of life with different beliefs and occupations was interesting and of course, they had Oprah open the show, so I was persuaded either way!!
Now this one, just from the title itself was a perfect fit for me, an almost 21 year old who’s just starting to learn how to navigate life as well as experiencing the ups and downs that come along with it. Figuring out what adulthood really is and trying to figure out what truly is going on in my life was something I just couldn’t pass up.
