Today’s post is something a little unplanned, I’ve decided to plunge deep within myself and write a digital letter which will be opened on the last day of 2019. Honestly, this scares me, I feel a little apprehensive because of the emotions that will pour forth through my writing and what might come up. Since this is unplanned, I’ve got no idea what this will turn out to be, a list of goals? A way to vent through everything that’s happened? Who knows? For the first thing in a very long time, my blog post will not have a draft, neither will it go through stringent edits.
It’ll be what it’ll be.
Dear Future Me,
I hope you’re well, I hope you’re happy, as cliche as I’m starting this letter, I wish nothing but the best for you. We’ve had somewhat of a rocky relationship in the past, a love/hate relationship if you will. But why I hated you, I’ll never really know.
You’ve been through the hardest of times, with the best people by your side. Treasure them, people like them are a rarity, love them with everything that you have and more, as long as you don’t forget to love yourself too.
You struggle a lot, self-love isn’t something that’s ever come easily to you, but know one thing, even if you don’t feel like it, you deserve all the love in the world. You’re a universe, a boundless, endless beautiful universe with so many aspects undiscovered. We’ve uncovered so many hidden layers lately, I’m sure you’ll know a lot more. Don’t forget to love these too.
You may wish to have an easier life, with less work, fewer people to see, less communication, I get it, you’re only human, you need a time-out too. But you’ll know how bittersweet it’ll be once you leave work. You’ll be back in university in final year. By the time you read this, you might be incredibly stressed out, in fact, I know you will. After all, who knows you better than I. So I’m sending you all the strength and courage to overcome those obstacles, as always, you’ll get through it.
You always do.
You’ll feel like a world away when you read this again, you’ll have grown, become wiser, more understanding, more loving and even stronger than you are now. We’ll never meet again, you and I. But know this, I loved you, I always loved you.
Love, me.

Love the last paragraph of your letter. Great idea altogether! Hope this year treats you well.

This is a lovely idea and something you will love coming back to at the end of this year. I think it’s so important to address ourselves and be our own guidance. You finished the letter so poetically and beautifully. x
