Why I don’t Celebrate my Blogiversary

blogiversary.jpg

This little magical space on the internet that I like to call mine has been around for just over two years, which honestly seems pretty unbelievable, the fact that I’m still here creating (a little less than usual) and that time has flown by incredibly fast. Just like every other blogger on this platform, I get that yearly message in my notifications saying how long it’s been since I published my very first blog post, (and let me tell you, it’s not a pretty sight at all, the first post I mean). But I don’t really celebrate this at all.

Just by typing that last sentence, I feel like I’ve committed a bloggers’ sin, why the hell would I not want to celebrate this momentous occasion? It’s practically a huge achievement, I mean so much has happened thanks to WhenLifeAwakens, how could I not acknowledge that? Except I do, I’m filled with an immense gratitude to my past self, and the forces of the Universe that led me to this phase in life when I was struggling and at my lowest depths. The moment I decided that this was going to happen, the day I drafted my first post, created my first design on Canva was monumental, it was an all-or-nothing type of decision, and I decided on all.

With that being said, my blog has undergone many changes or had in fact undergone many changes in those beginning phases, if you look back on my first post, which I beg you not to, I found myself in the wrong place, blogging about things that never really interested me. I just did what seemed popular at the time which was a huge mistake on my part. After much experimentation, I found my niche, or as I like to call it my niches, I have many areas of interest that are all encapsulated in this blog from raw emotion in creative writing to travel posts and even more personal aspects of my life. My blog has it all, literally.

In my mind, I like to think that my blog changes with the seasons, my style of writing, my layout, the type of designs I’m drawn to makes it difficult to stay in one spot, it’s always changing and it always will. So celebrating my blogiversary of two years doesn’t feel right, in fact celebrating it all doesn’t feel right. There’s no clear distinction between the changes my blog goes through, there’s no line or category or even a word to describe it, it just happens. Though it may be two years old, it’s always reinventing itself, trying something new, reviving an old pastime, and honestly, I’m fine with that. I always will be.

Sometimes a little change is a good thing
