An (Academic) Year in Review:

ACADEMIC YEAR IN REVIEW.png

Well, that was a super long hiatus, but as of now, I’m back for good!!

Recently, and by recently I mean yesterday, I finished my first year of university.

As you can probably imagine it flew by faster than I could say “I really don’t feel ready to adult yet” (insert crying emoji) and since you can’t really stop time, the year just happened.

The start of the year was pretty much an adjustment period which is typical whenever you enter a new place, learning how things work, meeting new people, deciding which lecturers’ classes you’ll skip out on (though I don’t recommend it, I’m guilty of this). But once all of that’s sorted, it’s time to start ‘living’ because before you know it you’ll be a broke student, just like everybody else.

Yet one of the important things I’ve learnt whilst studying at university is that life isn’t just about being able to work hard because if that was the case everyone would succeed, but very few make their mark on the world. It’s about finding people who you get along with, making memories, taking many of the opportunities that you’re being offered because these only come around ever so often.

Unlike all the other academic school years, university gives you the chance to figure out who you are and the best part is being able to do this whilst having the people you need right by your side. They say you’re the average of the five people you spend the most time with, and although on a daily basis I hang out with much less than five different people, I know I always have someone to count on. More so, being exposed to different personalities helps you understand and discover things about yourself you may not have known otherwise.

Right now, I can confidently say that I’m a much better person thanks to the influence of my friends, this may not always be positive but we find ways to make it work. As I mentioned earlier life at university is not all work, it’s about you, the type of person you are and the way you make it through life, but trust me on this, you’ll have a much better time if you let people in and have fun along the way.
